NMERCER

Music – Seattle

For years, Naomi Mercer made music up and down the west coast. With Seattle band Dodi she performed at the Crocodile, the OK Hotel, Jack Straw studios, and the Tractor Tavern, to name a few. She recorded the trip-hop album Zygotia in 2002, laid tracks on rap albums in South Central L.A., and sang Etta James covers at private parties in the Laguna Beach Hills. The dedication, exploration and versatility that defined those early days have culminated into the awesomeness that is NMERCER. NMERCER is a perfect storm, a totally fearless songwriter, singer, rapper and performer. Influenced by artists like Santigold, MIA, Jessie J, Missy Elliott, G-Love & Special Sauce, The Pharcyde, and Amanda Blank to name a few, her songs are cleverly woven comic narratives, with distinct beats and catchy hooks that make you want to move. Says NMERCER, “The only time my songs get serious is if I talk about the importance of enjoying life and doing your best. Otherwise, I\'m cracking jokes or talking shit.”
