Visual Art – Brisbane

Howdy! My name is Holly, I’m a Brisbane-based freelance illustrator and the creator of Paper Hands! Paper Hands is a collection of fun-filled ink and water colour illustrations that capture a kind of everyday, kooky humour that people can identify with. My inspiration for creating this wild and wacky art page comes from my love of drawing and making things with my hands. Creativity has always played a leading role in my life. Both of my sisters have been gifted in both performing and visual arts, my dad is a brilliant gardener and my mum is the best DIY craft queen there ever was. With all of those creative juices already at my disposal I found it very easy to fall in love with illustrating. Paper Hands gave me the opportunity to turn my hobby into a a platform from which I can share my work on an interstate and international level. Since starting this project I haven’t stopped buzzing from all of the love and support it has received. It’s a reward in itself to draw a picture that resonates with oneself but it is even more rewarding when a stranger can see my work and feel that same connection to the piece. This is the sort of feedback that has driven me to continue to grow Paper Hands and start a conversation with the world about how beautiful, weird, scary and silly life can be. Let’s try and look out for each other and keep the arts at the forefront of it all.
