Paxpottery: ceramics by Robbie Teasdale

Craft – Cincinnati

I first learned to work with clay in 2009 at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya, where I lived for 18 years. Clay has seen me through many difficult days. I lost my sister to suicide in 2013 and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I know that as a suicide survivor every day I can create art is precious. Everyone has a story with peaks and valleys. My pots tell their own story of how they were made, each piece surviving being pulled, carved and put through fire. The name Paxpottery was inspired by a poem my sister wrote called "Peace, a Meditation"- everything I make is dedicated to her (Julie).
