Performing Art – San Francisco

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Ezra Myles is a a quintessential creative. As a self-taught choreographer, published illustrator, and internationally recognized spoken word artist, Ezra has been creative his entire life, once he decided at age 10 that he would grow up to be an artist. He made his first graphic novel at 14, started his first dance team at 16, and produced his first show by 18. Ezra's natural ability, exuberance, and boundless creativity led him to attend Trinity College in Hartford, CT, to pursue a degree in the Visual Arts. During his sophomore year, he co-founded Elemental Movement Dance Crew, Trinity's first co-ed all styles dance team. Despite never formally declaring a Theater and Dance major, he partnered with the Theater and Dance department so consistently that he helped bring Hip-Hop to Trinity College as a regularly offered class in the Dance curriculum. While studying abroad at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, Ezra honed these wide-ranging talents through the lens of Carnival Arts and the restoration of cultural capital to Diasporic communities. By the time he graduated in 2014, his artistic resume included over 40 production credits as a performer, choreographer, poet, director, author/illustrator and muralist, multiple first place wins in local talent competitions, an appearance with a winning Trinidad Carnival 2013 mas' band, and extensive event and stage production experience. The next chapter of this artists life brought him to the Bay Area in 2014, where he began to build MylesBeyond Creatives. This brand is a manifesto, an affirmation of his commitment to using creativity in all its many facets to tell the story of his people.
