Visual Art – New Orleans

I had not painted for many years until I meet Danny, the love of my life who just happened to be a musician from New Orleans. The first time that I visited New Orleans with Danny, the city spoke to me in ways I cannot describe, especially the music! The sights and sounds of the city and the music that I heard brought something out in me; it inspired me to start painting again, (with a little push from Danny). My paintings are of musicians that I have had the privilege to meet and now call my friends. There is a feeling that overcomes me when I am away from New Orleans as if She is calling me home. I know what it means to miss New Orleans!! Painting like music, for me, became a place where anything was possible…a refuge, a magical world where I could go, and anything could happen, I was only limited by my own imagination. I could surrender my whole being to my inspiration and the world would disappear, what a release, I was swept away by it! With one stroke of my brush, I can tell a story as powerful as any musician can. I have to admit that I paint for myself, I have never sold any of my work, although I plan to, it just seems like I was selling a part of me. I recently did my first abstract painting for my office. I call it “Birth of Music”.
