Visual Art – Richmond
My love affair with painting began in 2003 when I painted a mural in the nursery of my soon-to-be first born child, Maggie. I painted animals on the wall and the fireworks went off. I come from a very artistic family of singers, painters and actors, so it was of no surprise to me that I was meant to create art. 35 at the time, it was a case of “Better Late than Never!” I began painting murals professionally soon after, 16 years ago and fell in love with creating stamped and handmade greeting cards. Then, I found Donna Dewberry on TV with her “One Stroke Painting” method and was hooked. Acrylic painting on canvas took over my world! During the past several years, I’ve run an art studio where I teach all ages to paint. I have (sort-of) invented an abstract painting technique that I call “Spooning”. It is just like it sounds… art-wise… Painting with a Spoon! I teach this technique and many other serendipitous techniques, such as; drizzling, dripping, finger painting, flinging, squishing, pouring and even stabbing(!) at my studio. During my limited free time, I just let myself go free painting originals of all subjects, mostly beach and nautical oriented designs. I also enjoy creating and selling mixed media art as well. I accept commissioned art requests, mural requests and have online stores on Amazon and Etsy, where originals and prints of my work are offered for sale.
Sharing my love of creating art with students or clients is one of the happiest and most rewarding aspects of my life! I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork!
