Photography – Chicago

My artwork is a direct reflection on how I perceive the world around me. I have always found inspiration in nature, our relationship with it, and the perception of space that I get from it. Furthermore, I have a nostalgic love of old houses, especially those falling into disrepair. I enjoy capturing the basic essence of houses, their lines and intricate designs, whilst highlighting the space that they sit in. Growing up in New Zealand has given me a love of wide open empty spaces, which I try to portray. I am also driven to reflect how I feel I am treated and represented as a woman in society, and how I see other woman represented. I use dolls to portray perceptions of beauty, and, how this still seen as being more important that intellect, role, voice. Art should make people think and reflect.
