Sam Yoo

I started teaching myself how to use a camera in 2008. I would often times put my camera in manual mode and head down to the beach. I would try a lot of different things with the settings and would hope for the best. In the beginning it was quite boring and exhausting but then I remember when I did my first successful long exposure, something just clicked inside of me. It was at Ponto Beach in Carlsbad. It was just a 3 second exposure of the jetty, but after that my love for photography grew even more and that is when I started feeling validated as a photographer. I love to share my photographs with people. Photography as an art is satisfying in itself but I feel that it is the most gratifying when shared with others. I do not consider myself an expert in photography, there is always more to learn about my camera. My journey is just now starting and I am happy to be given the chance to share with you.
