Visual Art – New York-Queens

Sandra Acosta is a NYC based portrait artist. Drawing has been a passion of Sandra's for a big part of her life.  She studied Communication Design at Pratt Institute and is currently a freelance designer and artist. Most of Sandra's inspirations draw from women and the complexity of their emotions, nature, cultures and beauty/fashion. Sandra's art is driven by her emotions and as an expressive portrait artist she has always been fascinated by the depth and complexity, which lies just under the surface of the individual faces.  Her work is a mix of black and white rawness with spots of color and life. She believes that in a world full of distractions we tend to lose emotional connection. She feels that the pureness of black and white allows people to look at the subject's face or eyes in her paintings without the distraction of color and can provide a stronger emotional connection with the subject.  She chooses to add a minimal pop of color to show that in life we will always have some sort of distraction and we have to learn to look past the distractions and still find those emotional connections.
