Shannon Crooks

Visual Art – Sacramento

Artist Statement: I create paintings and drawings by using blind contour lines to describe the figures and/or objects of a space. The blind line work within my pieces acts as a basis for the later incorporation of spatial elements, such as geometric lines and blocks of color. I am attracted to the blind contour line not only because of the unpredictable nature of its process and outcome, but also the rigidity it creates with the measurable line. Artist Bio: Shannon Crooks is an artist living and working in Sacramento. Crooks received her Bachelor of Arts in art studio from California State University, Sacramento in 2009. A Sacramento native, Crooks has been exhibiting work in local galleries since 2004.
