Sharon Whelchel

I have had the privilege of experiencing many different cultures and environments throughout my life. I was born and raised in the Philippines with dual citizenship between the United States and the Philippines. After high school, I moved to California to obtain my undergraduate degree in studio art at the University of California Irvine. I worked for two non-profit organizations and traveled the world before I settled down in Los Angeles to obtain a graduate degree in physical therapy. My work is influenced by encounters from life and experiences from imagination. I explore memories left from my journeys and faces that have impressed themselves on my mind. If a memory is like a flash, then I want my art to be the deep and subtle thunder that reverberates after the silence.
