Smidge Isgrig

I am Smidge Isgrig from Tulsa, OK. I have been a dancer for as long as I can remember, but a belly dancer for 5 years. I am the assistant director for The Shimmy Shack under Star Hachem who is my mentor and best friend. I was introduced to drumming at an early age by my father, but moved on to other realms of art as I aged. Belly Dance is my ultimate passion and entire way of life, it has shaped who I am as an individual. Looking back, it makes perfect sense that I became the artist that I am - I had always dreamed of an art where I could express my love for music. Every step I have taken (good and bad) have lead me to this point in which I am very grateful. It is my life\'s mission to share this gift with every individual who will listen, watch, and/or participate. I believe in order to be a true artist you must immerse yourself in it entirely (whatever \"it\" may be). I tend to be a very innovative creature and I am certain there are none other like me. I have been working on introducing new flavors to Belly Dance since my very first shimmy. I like to incorporate certain jazz music and especially the music of jazz inspired DJ\'s such as Madlib. I always make my own costumes, so I can fully represent myself and my visions. Life is so beautiful!
