Visual Art – Los Angeles

Sonali Kolhatkar is a Loa Angeles-based artist with a focus on subverting traditional Hindu iconography. Her primary artistic medium is acrylic on canvas but is a prolific crafter dabbling in tile mosaic, crochet, sewing, resin jewelry, woodburning, painted furniture, and paper art. Her work has been featured in several local art exhibits including Artwallah, Art and Democracy (Angel's Gate Cultural Center), Open Studios in Altadena/Pasadena, and the South Pasadena Arts Crawl. By day she is a broadcast and print journalist on Pacifica Radio, Free Speech TV, and Truthdig.com. She lives with her two young sons and husband in Pasadena.
