Yanisa Torres

Visual Art – Orlando

Yanisa Torres is what can be considered a \"natural born artist\".Born in Puerto Rico, she was raised and resides in Orlando Florida. Her work as an artist, family, faith and volunteer work is her focus. Her dream was always to combine her gifts to her heart. And with this, to help the needy, broken, abused or homeless. \"I am so grateful to have been raised in poverty, I\'ve been homeless, I\'ve endured and survived abuse. As crazy as it may sound, I am grateful to have once been a victim of domestic abuse. It was from these rough moments that I was strengthened, refined and learned compassion and unconditional love. I feel I was being refined through the flame\". Very recently she was chosen to be RAW artist, where she recalls this to be the moment her artistic career really began. She explains her inspiration \"is a process of prayer and vision\" She expresses through vivid colors and dimensions created through color transition, each painting carrying a message within her designs. Yanisa\'s most admired collection is what many consider \"like a mosaic\" or a \"Tiffany lamp\". She explains \"it\'s my view on each piece being a crucial part to the bigger picture.Life\'s little details, every molecule vital to the entire living creation!\" Her work has been referred to as \"unique\" \"elegant\" \"emotion provoking\" and \"bringing forward a light\". Her dream has finally come true, successfully using her gifts to help others. Although she has been busy with commissioned work, her priority is to use her art for charities, fundraisers and humanitarian efforts. Both her original work and prints have successfully raised funds for several fundraisers through silent auctions. All other art that is sold outside of charity events, she consistently sets a percentage aside to give back to the charities in need. She calls this mission HeARTS for your cause. Yanisa\'s art and humanitarian efforts to date has benefited several non profits and causes as: the Christina Mercer Breast Cancer art auction, 24 Hrs for Mrs. Smith (a community effort to rebuild the home of a 98 year old woman in need), WRCC (a transitional center for women and children of domestic abuse, of which she is a committed volunteer), Harbor House, Give Kids the World, Catholic Charities and Habitat for Humanity. The work she is most proud of, is her volunteer work with WRCC, Prince of Hope Church (food pantry services) and NDCO (New Directions Community Outreach) and the hands on projects to rebuild in the community. She is also a proud member of Girls Standing Together (non profit group of amazing local heroes) Recently, she was a featured artist for Firestone Live \"One Chic Fete) and has connected and contributed to organizations that have helped her along the way. \"I m committed to pay it forward to those who have helped me in my hard times, Harbor House and Catholic Charities has saved me from the worst times a single mother could have. It\'s a sad high number of people that are hurting, abused, broken, hungry and homeless. They brought me hope when I needed it most, I wouldn\'t be alive today to paint about it\"
