Stephanie Sykes

I am a student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UW-Madison, as well as a self-taught artist. I was fortunate enough to study art in high school and at the Monroe Street Arts Center in Madison, WI as a kid. Although I no longer formally study art, I continue to paint and draw as often as I can. My work explores a theme I am very fond of - nature. Each piece is meant to demonstrate the incredible power and emotion that natural phenomena evoke. Nature is both turbulent and well ordered. To illustrate this concept, I create and re-create natural settings in an attempt to capture the volatile emotions we attach to them.
