Nikki Greene

I live and work in San Francisco. My work most often explores subtle humor found in urban and rural environments. My photographs regularly single out a humorous moment or image that would otherwise remain unnoticed. I feel like most of us take the quirks and character of our surroundings for granted, often forgetting to notice the culture that surround us. Living in a city as exciting and full of character as San Francisco, we sometimes become so overwhelmed by the over stimulation of images, noise and people we tune out a lot of what is happening around us. With my camera, I am able to focus on those aspects of life. I solely work with film, and I mostly use medium format film and various types of expired Polaroid film. Using films like Polaroid resonate with the idea that images are temporary, as are memories, as is life. Our world around us changes so constantly, my interest is to document present life. -Nikki Greene
