Visual Art – Ottawa

I love the colour, texture, and amazing transformative capacity of wool. Whether I'm using soapy water or barbed felting needles, I'm endlessly curious about creating new shapes and designs with beautiful natural fibres. Art making is a rich journey, one I've been on at least since I was four years old and picked up a sharp stone to carve a scene into the side table my mother had just refinished. Needless to say, I learned how to sand down wood at a young age. So it goes with the creative work of our hands: there are many possibilities and opportunities to change course and try again! Over the years, I've explored conte, pastel, and pencil drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting, multimedia collage, embroidery, sewing, weaving, crocheting, pottery, polymer clay sculpture, paper making and marbling, origami, stamping, print making, stenciling, furniture painting... And then along came felt art to capture my imagination in seemingly infinite ways. All at once, felting can be both sculptural and painterly. There is so much to learn and discover. Each time I come to my work table, I aim to value the process and give myself space to create lovingly and with joy. It's in this spirit that I share my art and workshops with you.
