Santiago Varela

i'm from Guadalajara, Mexico. i have 26 years old, i started making ceramics three years ago. My work is characterised by developing a quotidian expression through ceramics; which message is “to be present”. My art pieces are mostly faces that, through facial gestures, evoke emotions and feelings that arouse peaceful reactions on the spectator. Besides these facial art pieces, he sculpts animals to play with body expression and movement. I never used patterns or traditional surface finishes; the decoration is always a result of the experimentation process.
