Dylan Montanio

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, I have maintained a lifelong passion for any and all artistic endeavors, from painting and sculpture to jazz composition, prose, and gastronomy. To me, art is a blanket term for the human drive to create something unique and memorable in a way that allows the creator to explore a deeper part of themselves while simultaneously allowing the observer to experience a different perspective on reality. They say that art should by definition have no use value, but I think that its use is in its creation and existence. I try to approach everything in life from this perspective, whether it be flipping an omelet, cutting a tomato, putting paint to canvas, or sitting down with an instrument and staff paper and letting music flow. The art lies in the exploration and stride towards the transcendental ideal inherent in any great work in any field be it neuroscience or interpretive dance.
