Visual Art – Washington, D.C.

Genesis, originally from Jackson, Mississippi, never quite saw her world as solely black and white but rather brilliant shades of colors. She saw her world providing direct insight to the creator, the artist; a role, which in many cases, she has grown to parallel. Genesis has assisted in planning and executing many exhibitions around the dc area, including in the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Though a self taught artist she has been studying art history at howard university to broaden her perspective as to be paired with her advocacy for increasing the diversity of those working in art institutions so that they better reflect the diverse, colorful communities they serve.
