Music – Wollongong
Wollongong based female duo The Hot Teas have been performing around Sydney and the Illawarra since 2012. Duo members Lucy Mills (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Hayley Neal (acoustic bass and vocals) refer to themselves as an indie acoustic act. They perform original songs and covers in an acoustic style with arrangements of vocal harmonies.
In the short time Lucy and Hayley have performed as The Hot Teas, they have won heats in several music competitions and progressed to the semi-finals, these competitions include Coogee’s Sea Factor Talent Quest, Liverpool Idol (Burgess Bookings) and Songs On Stage.
The set list of two hours The Hot Teas offer includes cover songs that appeal to a range of generations; from “What I Like About You” by 70’s band the Romantics to “Somebody That I Used To Know” by current popular artist Gotye.
As singer/songwriters, Lucy and Hayley are able to bring a list of fresh originals to the stage. A demo CD of five original tracks presents the catchy and unique kind of songs the duo put together. With a review from 2MCR Radio that begins with “In a word, fantastic!” (See the full review on The Hot Teas fan page), The Hot Teas continue to gain fans wherever they play.
