Visual Art – Chicago
Raemi is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Growing up in a fairly small city in the Midwest, did lend itself to boredom at times. So she quickly turned to the creative arts at a young age. At age 8 she began taking jazz, ballet, tap and contemporary dance classes. She enjoyed dancing so much that she continued through high school. After graduating, she taught dance and starred in several local theatre productions. Raemi also took art classes at a local community college and eventually earned a BA in psychology and fine art from Coe College. In 2007 she moved to New Orleans. While living down south, in a city rich with the arts, she continued to develop her love for visual art. She participated in a RAW New Orleans showcase and absolutely loved the experience. Since then, she has returned to her hometown in Iowa. She has expanded her mediums and subject matter to include leather purse painting, costume headdresses and personalized home furnishings. Her subject matter continues to be displayed through vibrant colors, exciting textures and movement. She has an undying love for 90’s hip hop, urban imagery and graffiti styles. She has been commissioned for several paintings, which is what she enjoys most. For her, the most important thing in her creative process and compositions, is that the viewer sees and feels her “energy”. These days Raemi keeps busy with her full time job as a Healthcare IT Analyst, being a mother to her 12 year old daughter and working part time at her local church serving coffee. Besides that, you may catch her performing as a haunt actress at the best haunted house in Iowa, Scream Acres. It’s not hard to tell this is likely her favorite creative outlet and you won’t be disappointed by her original horror-themed characters. They are to die for.
