Visual Art – Boston

I am a sculptor/potter currently living in Boston, MA. My sculptural work is meant to reveal something normally overlooked or taken for granted and to then kindle a curiosity in that object and the subject it references. I work with clay—porcelain specifically—a medium that is heavily imbued with the memory of touch, a medium with the capacity to be both malleable and rigid, delicate and durable. The pieces I construct embody memory in its many forms—time slice errors, deterioration, false or implanted memory, the hazy nature of our recollections after time has passed. We rely on our memories to perform in every aspect of our daily lives, from something as simple as going to an appointment to remembering our past interactions. The past, present, and future are inextricably linked by this continuous thread, dictating how we view ourselves and others, how we make decisions, and how we will act in the future. The thread seems indestructible, unwavering—but in fact, is not free from tears or tangles or loosening.
