Visual Art – Chicago

All in all, I am a product of creative minds. As a child, I was mesmerized by the furniture my father created from planks of wood; and I sat bewildered as my mother flooded page upon page with watercolors. My imagination flourished. As I lost myself in their work, I found that my imagination held few boundaries. Creativity was not only allowed, it was greatly encouraged. Today, as I was in childhood, I am inspired by the people around me, music, movement, exploring and experiencing the outdoors, studying the intricate beauties of architecture, and last but certainly not least, my day-to-day life and experiences. Overcoming the challenge of transforming an idea into an intrusive three-dimensional form is one of my greatest pleasures as an artist. When I am not engulfed in this transformational realm of the second and third dimension, I enjoy drawing from the dialogue between human-beings and the objects around them. Manipulating and altering these functional objects allows them to take on a life of their own. Gravity, light, sound, erosion, combination and use of materials are all vital elements as a piece begins to take shape. Playing with these “rules” of nature has become a welcomed task. Honing my skills as an Artisan is an ongoing and wonderfully satisfying challenge. It constantly inspires me to defy boundaries and reach new heights. It creates problems and solutions that sustain not only my creative needs, but enables me to grow as an artist and as an individual.
