I. M. Color

Visual Art – Portland

Color that stirs the senses - Most of us have experienced this to some degree; maybe it was a sunset in the high desert of southern California, maybe it was while gazing through crystal clear waters at a reef teeming with life and offering up every conceivable color in the spectrum, or an enhanced picture of a galaxy far beyond the reach of mankind, or maybe it was a beautiful piece of art by someone who\'s name you\'ll never remember. Some people\'s eyes, however, are incapable of properly discerning hues and will never be able to experience color in all its glory; I think that\'s a tragedy. I couldn\'t draw a stick figure if you gave me the sticks, and I\'ve always viewed art as boring and just not my gig. Sometime in 2011, my then girlfriend called me into a darkened room and switched on a blacklight. Standing in front of me in the form of a half-naked beauty adorned in neon paint, was my colorlust, which had been lying dormant since I was 10 years old - over 30 years. Less than a year later, RAW invited me to the 2012 Solstice Showcase as a featured artist and my life hasn\'t been the same since. Six months later, I was voted one of the top 5 Visual Artists in Portland by RAW followers - a feat that was repeated in 2013.
