Yesenia Bocanegra

Photography – San Francisco

My name is Yesenia Bocanegra, and art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Photography is more than just recording instances of life; it is a process and a moment of personal transformation. Originally from Puerto Rico, I relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue my MFA in Photography at the Academy of Art University. As a photographer, my work is influenced by Edward Weston, Irving Penn, and Richard Avedon. I find inspiration in the human body and poetry as complements to one another that in turn create new visual meanings. I have worked as a Photography and Graphic Design professor, as well as given lectures on French Culture, Design, and Technologies in Online Education.I obtained a BA in Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, an MAG in Digital Graphic Design from Atlantic University College, and currently I´m pursuing an MFA in Photography at the Academy of Art University where I expect to graduate in 2013.
